Making an external Profile
First, go to www.moonfruit.com, and choose the FREE option
Then, follow the instructions to choose the general look of your website. Also, I think I chose homepage or something like that, cause it gives you the option of having a jukebox on the site.
On step 3, you choose the URL of your website. I chose the name of my character but put profile after it. E.g. - www.justiceprofile.moonfruit.com.
In the site name: (for logo) section, put the full name of your character. And if you wish, just leave the description part blank
The next step is obvious, just make a username and password, it probably helps if you use the same as the character you are playing.
And then on the final step, choose ‘I agree, launch my site’
YOUR SITE IS NOW DONE ( not properly of course, but its there…)
Once you’ve clicked ‘I agree, launch my site’ your website will appear in construction mode. To start off with, you’re probably only going to want to have one page, so click on ‘Pages’ ( at the top of the screen ) and then on Organise pages. A small window appears, where you can delete the unwanted pages ( by clicking on the small trash cans ) and then edit the name of the page you want to keep to ‘Profile’ or something. Once you have finished editing them, click ‘Apply’ and the changes are done.
Now you want to add the information for your character. Just delete the boring old text from the text box that was already on the main page and paste the info from your profile that is already on dark streets. (If you haven’t made one, then just start one from scratch on here). You can also edit the main title to be the name of your character, or something else if you wish.
You can either leave the layout as it is, or move the text and buttons around. It’s all up to you.
MUSIC:
You’re probably going to want to have music for your characters theme tune or what ever. It’s easy. Just first go to ‘upload’ and then upload the track you want to use. Its just like uploading a picture to photobucket or whatever.
Once that’s all done and dusted, close the upload window and click on ‘Insert, object, jukebox’ from the nice moonfruit toolbar at the top of your website. Drag the juke box to where ever you want it; I put mine underneath the profile.
Double click on the jukebox and then press the little + sign. This is to add a track to the jukebox.
When the big window opens, click on the ‘Your Files’ tab to bring up a new section. Here you should be able to find the track you uploaded earlier. Select it and then press ‘Use This’.
Now this bit is important. Once you have got the song to appear on the jukebox, press the little disk button on the end of the jukebox to save it. Otherwise it will just disappear.
Now the basics of your profile are done, click on the ‘View my site’ button in the top right hand side of the page. When the pop up appears asking whether you want to save the changes, click yes for gods sake…
Now you will be shown your great new profile, and if you want to edit it some more just click on the ‘Edit my site’ button.
Now you can paste the link into your sig so people can see it
DONE!
Later, I’ll be adding how to make the banner in your sig clickable, so it is linked to your profile. If you have any problems, post below
